This qualitative study was conducted using a descriptive phenomenological approach. The participants were 24 individuals, comprising 12 married couples with an age gap of at least 10 years, living in Tehran, Iran. They were selected through purposive sampling based on predefined inclusion criteria. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. Initial saturation occurred after the twentieth interview, and four additional interviews were conducted to ensure conceptual adequacy. Interviews lasted between 45 and 80 minutes. All interviews were audio-recorded with informed consent, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using NVivo software. Data analysis followed thematic analysis procedures, including familiarization with the transcripts, initial coding, development of subthemes, and organization of main categories. Credibility and trustworthiness were enhanced through member checking, prolonged engagement with the data, peer review, and maintaining an analytic audit trail. The analysis yielded four main categories: “power based on age and lived experience,” “negotiation over family decision-making,” “boundary-setting against familial and social judgment,” and “transition from hidden dominance to negotiated partnership.” The findings indicated that large age gaps were initially interpreted as symbolic capital, greater life experience, economic authority, or decision-making legitimacy. Over time, however, couples were compelled to redefine these patterns through dialogue, negotiation, boundary-setting, and redistribution of relational authority. The lived experience of couples with large age gaps suggests that age difference alone does not determine marital quality. Rather, the meanings attributed to age, power, experience, gender, economic resources, and family expectations shape the relational trajectory. Redefining power roles may support marital adjustment when couples move beyond hierarchical and one-sided caregiving patterns toward mutual influence, shared responsibility, and egalitarian dialogue.</p> <p>هدف پژوهش حاضر واکاوی تجربه زیسته زوج‌های دارای فاصله سنی زیاد از فرایند بازتعریف نقش‌های قدرت در زندگی زناشویی بود. این پژوهش با رویکرد کیفی و روش پدیدارشناسی توصیفی انجام شد. مشارکت‌کنندگان شامل 24 نفر، معادل 12 زوج دارای فاصله سنی حداقل 10 سال، ساکن شهر تهران بودند که به‌صورت هدفمند و با رعایت معیارهای ورود انتخاب شدند. داده‌ها از طریق مصاحبه‌های نیمه‌ساختاریافته عمیق گردآوری شد و فرایند مصاحبه تا دستیابی به اشباع نظری ادامه یافت؛ اشباع اولیه در مصاحبه بیستم حاصل شد و چهار مصاحبه تکمیلی برای اطمینان از کفایت مفهومی انجام گرفت. مدت مصاحبه‌ها بین 45 تا 80 دقیقه بود. همه مصاحبه‌ها با رضایت آگاهانه مشارکت‌کنندگان ضبط، پیاده‌سازی و در نرم‌افزار NVivo تحلیل شد. تحلیل داده‌ها بر اساس تحلیل مضمون و با تأکید بر استخراج معانی تجربه‌شده، کدگذاری اولیه، شکل‌دهی مضامین فرعی و سازمان‌دهی مقوله‌های اصلی انجام گرفت. برای افزایش اعتبار یافته‌ها از بازبینی مشارکت‌کنندگان، درگیری طولانی‌مدت با داده‌ها، بازبینی همکار پژوهشی و ثبت مسیر تحلیل استفاده شد. تحلیل داده‌ها به استخراج چهار مقوله اصلی منجر شد: «قدرت مبتنی بر سن و تجربه زیسته»، «چانه‌زنی بر سر تصمیم‌گیری‌های خانوادگی»، «مرزبندی در برابر قضاوت خانواده و جامعه» و «گذار از سلطه پنهان به شراکت مذاکره‌شده». یافته‌ها نشان داد که فاصله سنی زیاد در ابتدای رابطه اغلب به‌صورت سرمایه نمادین، تجربه بیشتر، توان اقتصادی یا مرجعیت تصمیم‌گیری بازنمایی می‌شود، اما در ادامه زندگی مشترک، زوج‌ها ناچار به بازتعریف این الگوها در قالب گفت‌وگو، توافق، مرزبندی و بازتوزیع اختیار می‌شوند. تجربه زیسته زوج‌های دارای فاصله سنی زیاد نشان می‌دهد که فاصله سنی به‌خودی‌خود تعیین‌کننده کیفیت رابطه نیست، بلکه چگونگی معناگذاری زوج‌ها به سن، قدرت، تجربه، جنسیت، منابع اقتصادی و انتظارات خانوادگی، مسیر رابطه را شکل می‌دهد. بازتعریف نقش‌های قدرت زمانی به سازگاری زناشویی کمک می‌کند که زوج‌ها از الگوهای سلسله‌مراتبی و مراقبت‌گرانه یک‌طرفه عبور کرده و به سمت اثرگذاری متقابل، مسئولیت‌پذیری مشترک و گفت‌وگوی برابر حرکت کنند.</p> https://www.jctaei.com/index.php/jctaei/article/download/66/67
